What exactly is a credit?
A credit is the unit of AI compute used by SLR Studio. Generating a section outline uses 0 credits (it's free). Writing full prose for a section uses 2–3 credits. Running a full gap analysis uses 10 credits. This keeps costs predictable — you're never charged for browsing, searching, or planning.
Do credits roll over?
Yes. Unused credits carry forward for 2 months on Starter and Professional plans, up to a maximum of 2× your monthly allotment. Faculty & Labs has unlimited rollover. This means if you use 30 credits in January, your February balance starts at 90 (60 carried + 60 new), capped at 120.
Can I buy more credits mid-month?
Yes — top-up packs are available in-app at any time: 50 credits, 100 credits, or 250 credits. These don't expire and stack on top of your plan balance.
Can I share my account with colleagues?
Each account is tied to a single verified email and monitored for concurrent usage patterns. Professional plans support up to 10 named seats, and Faculty & Labs supports unlimited seats. Sharing a single-seat account violates our Terms of Service and will result in suspension.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — every new account starts with 20 free credits so you can experience the full workflow before committing to a plan. No credit card required to start.
Can I cancel at any time?
Absolutely. Cancel from your account settings at any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period. No penalties, no questions asked.
Is SLR Studio HIPAA compliant?
SLR Studio includes a client-side HIPAA Safe Harbor de-identification scanner that detects and removes all 18 Safe Harbor identifiers before any text enters an AI prompt. All AI processing occurs via our secure server-side proxy — no PHI is ever sent to third-party AI APIs. For institutional HIPAA BAA agreements, contact us.
What AI model does SLR Studio use?
SLR Studio is powered by Anthropic's Claude — one of the most capable and safety-focused AI models available. The API key is stored securely on our servers; it is never exposed to the client browser.
